Getting Started
The basics of UAE healthcare licensing.
Standard processing runs two to four months across DHA, DOH, and MOHAP. DataFlow PSV at 20 to 30 business days is the longest step. Our Express track brings controllable steps down to 15 working days.
Authority fees range from AED 2,100 (MOHAP, nurse) to AED 5,000+ (DHA, specialist). DataFlow PSV is the largest component at AED 935 for nurses and AED 1,235+ for physicians. See our full cost breakdown for detailed tables.
Yes, and most candidates do. Document submission, DataFlow verification, and exam scheduling are all handled remotely. Prometric exams are available in India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Egypt, the UK, and many other countries.
DHA licenses you for Dubai, DOH for Abu Dhabi, and MOHAP for the Northern Emirates (Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah). Each runs its own process. You need a license from the authority covering your employer's emirate.
DataFlow & Documents
Credential verification and paperwork.
DataFlow Primary Source Verification independently confirms the authenticity of your qualifications directly with issuing institutions. It is mandatory for every DHA, DOH, and MOHAP application without exception. Typically takes 20 to 30 business days.
Core documents include your medical degree, postgraduate certificates (if applicable), professional registration from your home country, a Certificate of Good Standing less than six months old, experience letters, and a passport copy. Some documents need MEA/MOFA attestation.
The most common reason is a mismatch between the institution name on your degree and the name in DataFlow's database. Other causes include outdated verification contacts, improperly attested documents, and expired Certificates of Good Standing. A rejection adds 30 to 60 days.
Exams & Licensing
The qualifying exam and license types.
Most professionals do. DHA and MOHAP use Prometric computer-based exams. DOH may use oral assessments for specialists. Senior consultants with ten or more years of experience and recognized board certifications may qualify for exemption on a case-by-case basis.
Professional Registration confirms your eligibility and does not require a job offer. A Practice License allows you to actually see patients and requires sponsorship from a licensed facility. Most candidates get registration first and use it during interviews.
Yes. Transfers between DHA, DOH, and MOHAP are possible and shorter than fresh licensing because your DataFlow PSV results are usually transferable. You still need a new application and pay the receiving authority's fees.
Not for Professional Registration. You can complete eligibility recognition, DataFlow, and the exam without a job offer. The full Practice License requires facility sponsorship, but by that point most candidates have already secured a position.
Costs & Logistics
Fees, payment, and practical questions.
Some hospitals cover licensing costs as part of their recruitment package, particularly for hard-to-fill specialties and senior roles. This varies by employer and is worth asking about during interviews.
Renewals are significantly cheaper than initial licensing. DHA renewals typically cost AED 1,000 to AED 1,500 with no DataFlow or exam requirement. Takes five to ten working days.
You can retake the exam after a waiting period of 30 to 90 days. You pay the full exam fee again. Our candidates pass at a 96% rate on the second attempt.
