Lab technicians in Dubai typically earn AED 5,000 to 10,000 a month as a tax-free total package, depending on qualification, title and employer. Diploma (DMLT) holders licensed as Medical Laboratory Technicians sit at the lower end; BSc MLT holders licensed as Medical Technologists earn more, and senior technologists reach AED 10,000 to 18,000.
Job boards often show AED 4,000 to 5,500. Those figures usually quote basic pay only, and they mix in construction and industrial lab jobs, which are different roles that need no health licence.

DMLT vs BSc MLT vs MSc: How Your Qualification Changes Your Pay
Under the Unified PQR, a diploma generally leads to the Medical Laboratory Technician title and a bachelor's degree to Medical Technologist. Technologists have a broader scope, including result validation and quality management, which is why most hospital technologist vacancies ask for a BSc. An MSc helps for senior and specialist roles, but the title and the employer move pay more than the degree alone.
Salary by Workplace: Hospital, Diagnostic and Clinic Labs
Government and large hospital laboratories pay the strongest packages and offer the clearest progression, from technician to senior technician, section head and laboratory manager. Large diagnostic and reference laboratories sit in the middle, often with shift work. Small clinic labs sit at the lower end.
Construction, concrete and oil-and-gas lab technician jobs are industrial quality-control roles, often advertised at AED 2,000 to 3,000 a month, and they are not covered here.
Dubai vs Abu Dhabi vs Sharjah and the Northern Emirates
Dubai and Abu Dhabi pay medical laboratory staff at similar levels; Sharjah and the Northern Emirates usually pay less. Your licence must match the emirate where you work: DHA for Dubai, DOH for Abu Dhabi, SHA for Sharjah and MOHAP for the Northern Emirates.
Basic Pay vs Total Package
There is no income tax in the UAE. Basic pay is commonly 60 to 70 percent of the package, with housing, transport and other allowances on top. End-of-service gratuity is calculated on basic pay, so ask for the breakdown in writing.
